New School- Age Child Care Program

After serving preschoolers and their families since the early 1970s, the nonprofit Seward Child Care Center is initiating a new child-care program for children in grades K-6, located south of Lake Street near Longfellow Park. The School Age Program will serve up to 30 children at a time in a respectful, safe and nurturing environment. The program will embrace the rich cultural diversity of Greater Longfellow and offer the same special features as the Center's early childhood program: anti-bias curriculum, conflict resolution skills, whole foods, and a cooperative structure. The program will operate Mondays-Fridays, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., year-round except holidays, with special projects and field trips on school release days. A summer program will also be developed in Summer 2003. To learn more, contact Center Director Kim Leipold at 612-724-3030.
