Robbery of persons in Powderhorn Park

Since March 31, there have been five robberies of persons in and around Powderhorn Park. All five occurred after 8 p.m. and involved multiple male suspects. Suspects approached and sometimes surrounded victims, demanded money, and in three of the incidents, punched victims in the face. In one case, the victim thought one suspect had a rifle. After telling the suspects she had no money, they stated that they were only joking around.

The incidents occurred at the following times and locations:
3/31: E. 34th St./Bloomington Ave. at 9 p.m.
3/31: 34xx 15th Ave. S. at 9:10 p.m.
3/31: 34xx 14th Ave. S. at Unknown time
4/5: 34xx 15th Ave. S. at 8:30 p.m.
4/6: E. 34th St./14th Ave. S. at 8:10 p.m.

Suspect information:

Suspect descriptions vary depending on the case. Here are some of the descriptions given by victims:

- Five males, black, approximately 16-18 years of age, wearing dark clothing. Two suspects wore hooded sweatshirts and black nylon do-rags on their heads, 5’9”, average build.

- Four males, black and possible one female, black. One male, stocky build, wore a black wind suit with a red shirt underneath it and was wearing a black do-rag on his head.

- Three males approximately 15-17 years of age. One suspect, a white male, wore a white baseball style cap. The two other suspects were only described as black.

Area residents are advised to be extra cautious about their surroundings. Be aware of strangers loitering in your area and in the park.
- There is safety in numbers so go to the park with a friend or two.
- Stay away from isolated, dark areas. Be visible.
- Call 911 if you see anything suspicious.
- The park staff is also there to serve you. Contact them if you have any concerns.
- If you are a victim of robbery, report it immediately by calling 911.
