Life Time Fitness Triathlon set to blaze through Nokomis

The Life Time Fitness Triathlon takes place on Sat., July 17, right here at Lake Nokomis. You'll see the real-life "Battle of the Sexes" as all the intense drama of the race unfolds - with more than 2,300 amateur triathletes and 40 professionals from around the world battle for triathlon's largest cash purse: $500,000! Whether you're a competitor, spectator, volunteer or sponsor, the Triathalon's Website has all you need to know about the course, events and different races that make up this exciting day.

The event kicks off at 7:55 am. NBC Sports (KARE 11) will carry delayed, same-day coverage of this year's event starting at 1 p.m. central time, Saturday, July 17.

Note that Minnehaha Parkway from Lake Harriet to 46th Ave. South, 50th St. at the lake, Woodlawn Blvd between 50th and the Parkway, the River Roads on both sides of the river, and the Franklin and Ford bridges will be closed from 8am to 1pm that Saturday. Plan on using alternate routes.
