Sewing classes at Sabathani

The sewing class of Sabathani Community Center’s Life Skills program recently celebrated its fifth year of service to South Minneapolis.

The class teaches recent immigrants how to sew and projects include book bags, baby bibs, pillows, scarves and mittens.

Through a network of individual contributors, Sabathani staff collect donated used sewing machines, fabrics and patterns. Each class serves 12 students.

Sabathani seeks donations of fabric, patterns, notions, needles, thread and machines. To make a contribution or to sign up for class, call sewing teacher Joy Rindels at 612-821-2301. Sabathani is located at 310 E. 38th St. in Minneapolis.
