Police make key arrests
On Feb. 9, as well as on Feb. 1, Minneapolis
Police arrested individuals believed to be responsible for a number
of recent robberies in the 3rd precinct. Since mid-January, there
have been at least 13 robberies by one or two males armed with a
gun in which persons were approached while parking their vehicles
at home in residential neighborhoods. In some cases, it is believed
the suspects were parking their vehicle(s) on the street and waiting
for a target of opportunity.
Arrested on Feb. 1 was Ebrahim Mohammed, 22,
and he has confessed to investigators his involvement in five robberies
in the 3rd precinct. The name of the suspect arrested Feb. 9 has
not yet been released.
A breakdown of reported crimes in the Riverside
neighborhood between Jan. 1 and Feb. 1 are as follows:
Longfellow–rape, 1; robbery, 5; aggravated
assault, 3; burglary, 6; larceny, 26; auto theft, 9. Seward–rape,
1; robbery, 4; aggravated assault, 5; burglary, 8; larceny, 14;
auto theft, 9. Cooper–robbery, 3; burglary, 2; larceny, 7;
auto theft, 6. Hiawatha–rape, 1; robbery, 2; burglary, 4;
larceny, 8; auto theft, 3; arson, 1. Howe–rape, 1; robbery,
8; burglary, 6; larceny, 9; auto theft, 7; arson, 1.
