Earth Day cleanup on April 22
Almost 1,000 people of all ages are expected
to gather around the popular lakes, creeks and rivers of Minneapolis
to gather garbage and celebrate Earth Day from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.,
Sat. April 22.
Last year, 7,320 pounds of trash was collected
from areas surrounding these waters during the Annual Earth Day
Watershed Clean Up hosted by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation
Board, City of Minneapolis Solid Waste and Recycling, and neighborhood
organizations
Gloves and trash bags are provided, and day-of
registration makes participating easy. For more information, the

The event will be held, rain or shine, at the
following registration sites:
•Lake Nokomis and Hiawatha—Nokomis Community Center,
2401 E. Minnehaha Parkway.;
•Diamond Lake—Pearl Park at 414 E. Diamond Lake Road.
Following cleanup efforts, celebrations will be held at the Nokomis
Community Center and at Pearl Park. Helping to beautify our Mother
Earth is truly a reason to celebrate.
