South High Wrestlers put themselves in the history book! For the first timein school history the Tigers have won the City Conference champinship. Kenneth Loges in the sections against Hoplins at the State tournaments.
In the 77-year history of South High, the Tigers have come very close to winning the City Conference championship, with numerous second place finishes. But this year South High won the title, and at press time were competing in the state tourney.
Drew Gau, head coach and alum from the class of '97, credits his team's dynamics for the
historic season. "The leadership of our experienced wrestlers really helped our younger guys as the year progressed," Gau said.
South qualified three wrestlers for the State Tournament at the Excel Center. Those wrestlers are: 119-pound James Locke (36-1), 130-pound Peter Rummel (31-8), 160-pound Kenneth Loges (30-6).
