Visit your community gardens
This Saturday, Aug. 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.,
is the Parade of Community Gardens. The Hale, Page, Diamond Lake
Community Garden is at 49th Street and Bloomington Avenue, and the
Triangle Garden is at the intersection of Park Avenue and 51st Street,
just south of Minnehaha Creek.
The Triangle Garden, relatively new to the neighborhood,
is an attractive 1,200 square-foot community flower garden, created
and supported by neighbors from the adjacent blocks. It has beautiful
red cannas in a center circle and wood chip paths. The center path
and the paths to the corners are bordered by annuals. The beds between
the paths are planted with a mixture of colorful perennials and
annuals.
Neighbors donate plants and remove weeds as
necessary. Many people walk through it each day.
Over 50 people have participated in the creation
of this community garden.
Maps, brochures and garden descriptions are available free at www.gardenworksMN.org.
