| The SPEAK Project was piloted in 2006 as a free summer-long opportunity for at-risk young people to discuss issues that were important to them and sculpt metal into messages that spoke their truth. The youth made four sculptures, one for each neighborhood, which were installed in the Baha’i Center’s North Garden along with an introductory piece created by Heather Doyle. |

Art of This Gallery 3-year Anniversary
July 19, 7-11 pm.
Art of This Gallery
3506 Nicollet Ave.
ITS TIME, a collaborative installation marking 3 years of the Gallery’s presence in South Minneapolis. In this exhibition, the Art of This collaborators (Ariel Pate, Daniel
Palahniuk, John Marks, Kevin Loecke, David Petersen and Tiffany Hockin) ruminate upon the tumultuous events that took place around the globe throughout the year 1968 as well as how those events, and the
ideas that fomented them 40 years ago, are perceived today. Considering the implications of both time and space and their relationship to ‘the alternative’ (i.e. alternative art space), as well as their own instance of time as an art space, the AOT artists will present a multi-faceted, multi-disciplinary event of reflection and critique. The group will utilize sculpture, video, audio and 2-dimensional works in an immersive installation setting for one night only. FFI call Director David Petersen at 612-221-9539 or david@artofthis.net.
