Letter to the Editor
“The war has started,” Putin tells Bush. It is always the owners of the largest weapons of destruction that are doing the defining of “war.” They pick and choose when they want to call something “war”… so that tells us that “war” is more of a convenience than a reality.
Armed conflict is the escalation of violence and nothing more. “War” is not the act, it is only the excuse. “War” is not armed conflict, “war is the excuse to justify taking things and slaughtering people using armed conflict. “War” is only the excuse, beyond that it does not exist. Not one inch of a sacred planet is a “war zone”; the
“war” exists only in man's head-outside his head it is only escalating violence.
The killing is all too real, but the justification, the attempt to legitimize it and pull it into reality by claiming it's “war,” is not.
