This benefit concert,
to help Jean Akoy Béavogui bring his wife and children here from the Republic of Guinea, will celebrate the contributions that continuing immigration to the United States makes to our culture. The first half of the concert will feature solos in Spanish and Finnish, poetry in English, and the choir of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church. There will be an open mic in the second half and music from all different ethnic backgrounds is welcomed. Organizer Jim Reilly will be there to provide piano accompaniment to anyone who needs it. Also, he will lead off with a song in Faetar, his grandfather's Franco-Provençal dialect. Admission is by donation. FFI www.afmsp.org.

The topic of Ms.
Bile's presentation is, "Are we fighting terrorists in Somalia?" Ms.
Bile's family emigrated from Somalia in 1989 and she continues to
monitor the social, political and humanitarian situation in the Horn of Africa. Ms. Bile received her Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies and Political Science from the University of Minne-sota and most recently worked for The Advocates for Human Rights.
