Publisher's statement on Palestine/Israel by Ed Felien

We want peace in the Middle East. We recognize the most important step toward peace in that region would be peace between Israel and Palestine.
Although we believe a single state with a secular government that protected the rights and religions of all its citizens would be the best solution, we recognize that at this point a two state solution of Israel and Palestine divided roughly along the borders that existed prior to the 1967 war is the only possible alternative. The first step in that process is that Israel must recognize the legitimacy of a Palestinian state, and the Palestinians must recognize the legitimacy of the existence of Israel. We strongly condemn religious extremists on both sides that continue to call for the shedding of blood.
