Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor,
Thank you for many articles in Southside Pride. I am prompted to write by “Handy-Dandy . . . Homeless Shelter.” It took me a month to get out of a Minnesota shelter. Only to be told I did not have proper mental functioning. Then to be told I could not seek employment while I was seeking a place to live. Prior to that? My father spent two years in jail for strangling my mother … 1970s. Why do you see? Why do you see me arguing against people being on psychotropic “medication”? No psychotropic ever helps. The manufacturer’s website will, at least those I looked at, tell you these medications disrupt “cognitive functioning,” i.e., one’s ability to think. Yes, I know conventional wisdom says otherwise.
