The Minneapolis Southwest Lakers and the Minneapolis Roosevelt Teddies clashed in early October. The Lakers kicked off. On Roosevelt’s first drive Devante Riser came up with some good running plays, and they threatened to score on their first dive, but they could not convert on a fourth down situation. Starlon Pruitt of Roosevelt played very aggressively in the first quarter. He was all over the field. He carried the ball in short yardage situations.
At the start of the second quarter the Teddies scored when Devante Riser had a short yard touchdown. Minneapolis South-west got the ball back, but they coughed it up. Khalf Vant found Shane Hollie in the endzone for a 47-yard touchdown. The extra point attempt was good. Aryton Scott was tackled in the endzone for a Roosevelt safety. Roosevelt looked to score again late in the quarter as they kept driving the ball to the endzone, but they were intercepted and gave Southwest the ball back.
At the end of the third quarter the score was Roosevelt 16 and Southwest 6.

The two-point conversion was no good. With 7:24 left in the fourth quarter, the score was Roosevelt 23 and Southwest 12. Devante Riser came up with a nice catch and a long reception to bring the Teddies into scoring chances. But Southwest’s Sam Beaver intercepted the ball on the two yard line. Ayrton Scott threw to Sam Beaver who caught the ball for a Southwest touchdown, even though he was covered by five Roosevelt players. The two-point conversion was intercepted by Devante Riser.
Both teams played very well, but Roosevelt was able to come away with a hard fought 23-18 victory.
