A statement from McMahon’s Pub on the tragic fire
On Friday morning, the 2nd of April, we lost a friend. Ryan. The Gervais family lost five of their loved ones. Many people were left without a home. Our thoughts and best wishes are with them and all their families—everyone touched by this tragedy. Due to the damage on the upper floor of the building, the whole building will have to be demolished. That means the pub will be taken down as well.
The pub will be back. We all owe that to Ryan. He put his heart and soul into the bar—he was the life and soul of the bar. We will rebuild. It won’t be bigger and better because without Ryan that simply isn’t possible, but we will be stronger. This pub has become an extended family for many—a focus point for a community that welcomed it into its fold. A lot of hard work was done and that will not be wasted.
We are moved and deeply appreciate the support that has been shown and given at this hard time. We have only lost that which can be replaced and rebuilt, but others have lost so much more.
On Saturday, April 17, there will be a Benefit at the Fort Snelling Club at
12 p.m. This will be a dinner benefit with many bands that have played the pub performing for those lost. There will be music noon to midnight.
All money raised will be going to the families. Please show your support in their time of need.
