M&I Bank recognizes local student for work ethic, determination

At just 17, Luis Nava-Torres was named employee of the month by M&I Bank’s Lake Street location in December for his outstanding work ethic and dedication to the job.

Luis is not the typical part-time employee at M&I Bank. Through a unique program offered at Cristo Rey High School, Luis, a junior, works part-time at M&I to help offset the cost of his tuition. Luis is one of four Cristo Rey students who work as customer service representatives one day each week at M&I’s Lake Street location, learning valuable job skills, financial literacy skills, and how to interact in professional settings. M&I Bank then pays the school for Luis and his classmates’ time, covering approximately 70 percent of the students’ education costs.

“Luis has been a real asset to the M&I team and a great example of how hard work and determination can pay off,” said Felicia Ravelomanantsoa, branch manager at M&I’s Lake Street Branch.
