ANNOUNCEMENTS
On Wings of Prayer
The work of New York fiber artist Laurie Wohl will be exhibited at the Sabes Jewish Community Center until April 25. Her fiber art pieces convey spiritual narratives and evoke the poetry of various Biblical texts. The unwoven spaces form symbolic shapes—wings, ladders, prayer shawls, veils, trees, falling waters, rivers, and the sacred architecture of windows, domes and gates. “By unweaving the fabric I make manifest what is hidden within the material—liberating the threads to create shape, then ‘reweaving’ through color, texture and text, “ says Wohl. An artist talk and reception is scheduled for Thursday, April 25, at 7 p.m. Free and open to the public. Contact Robyn Awend at 952-381-3416 or rawend@sabesjcc.org, or visit www.sabesjcc.org.
